This work, originally published by Jean-Michel Vappereau in 1988, has been translated into English with the intent to make it accessible to a wider audience of psychoanalysts, mathematicians, and psychoanalytic theorists. In this text, JMV argues for a conception of the subject that would be characterized by topological principles, which he carefully describes, taking up the transmission of Jacques Lacan.
